Are we really 'beating Alabama and the nation' in grades 4 & 8? (According to nces.ed.gov and nationsreportcard.gov)

Grade 4: Reading is an unquestioned strength, our proficiency rate doubles the national mark. Math is solid, we exceed Alabama by 2 points and sit neck-and-neck with the national average (39%).

Grade 8: Reading again outperforms both comparators by wide margins. Math is a mixed picture, better than the state, yet 6 points shy of the national benchmark.
